In October 2021, prior to the start of COP26, The Eden Project launched a 90-second film urging all ‘earthlings’ to come together to create a better future for the planet.
As part of Eden’s Act Now campaign for COP26, the film – which features nearly 300 solar powered illuminated drones, addresses everyone from individual citizens to world leaders and asks that they take note of the final warning and call to action being issued to them.
In the film, the drones fly over Eden’s lit up biomes creating the illusion of particles of matter, before coming together to create the earth with orbiting stars, followed by different shapes and words, including ‘Oi, Earthling, ACT NOW!’. The story is told from the viewpoint of a visiting alien who tries to impress upon its audience that a good planet is hard to find.
Narrated by broadcaster Gemma Cairney with a melody by Sigur Rós, the film was made possible through a collaboration between Eden and acclaimed display company Celestial, whose drone fleet is the largest in the UK, as well as Volvo Car UK.
