Creative Cornwall Calling

Cornwall Council set up a new Crowdfunder campaign to support creative businesses and individuals struggling with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2020, Cornwall Council set up a new Crowdfunder campaign to support creative businesses and individuals struggling with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This campaign, Creative Cornwall Calling, was developed in collaboration with Cornwall’s creative sector to respond in the best way possible to their needs. The Council pledged £15,000 towards this campaign. This has unlocked an extra £170,447 of match-funding. Each £1 we invested has made a return of £11. In addition, projects have been able to secure funding from other sources thanks to our investment, including from Arts Council England.
Our funding has supported 31 projects all across Cornwall, including the Pearl Exchange for 18-30 years old in North Cornwall, a covid-safe mobile theatre (GWARYJY), and Discovering 42 – a new grassroots art and science exhibition for Cornwall. Tamsin Young at Newlyn Art Gallery said: “Creative Cornwall Calling support was brilliant, and we will be going with a Crowdfunder again as a result of the good experience!”
